Same-sex Ceremonies

Same-sex weddings, civil partnerships, commitment ceremonies and vow renewals are no different to any other those of opposite sex couples.

They are both are about the two people who love each other and want to make a public commitment in front of friends and family in a unique and personal way that is just perfect.  Love is love — and we celebrate it!

Let your journey begin.

Step one: Planning

  • We will start with a complimentary 45-minute chat to get to know each other.
  • This can be a method of your choice to suit you – face-to-face, phone, zoom or facetime.
  • Once you have decided I am right for you then we will begin to gather the story behind your love.
  • We can talk about your chosen venue and any traditions, readings, prayers and music that you have chosen.

Step two: Designing.

  • I will send you some questions and prompts so you can start thinking and chatting about what you would like me to share about you on the day such as the people and things that are important to you as well as your inside jokes and quirks.
  • I will write your unique story and share it with you to ensure it is perfect and make any changes or additions until you are completely satisfied.
  • I will structure the ceremony in a way that flows and includes everything that you want.
  • I will be available to chat through ideas as they develop and add them in.
  • If you would like a rehearsal, then we can chat about the benefits and plan it in.

Step three: The big day

  • I will arrive early and check in with you both to make sure you are happy with everything.
  • I will meet and greet your guests as they arrive.
  • I will deliver your perfectly formed bespoke ceremony with love, care and attention.

After the day I will send you a copy of the ceremony

What You Can Expect from Me

I will contact you to arrange an initial meeting, either in person or via video call, where we can discuss your upcoming celebration. This is a time for us to get to know each other and for me to learn about your relationship, your journey together, and the vision you have for your special day.

During this meeting, we’ll discuss:

  • Significant dates in your relationship
  • Key moments or milestones that you’d like to highlight
  • Personal stories or traditions you may want to include
  • Special readings, vows, or any other personal touches
  • Your choice of music or hymns for the ceremony

I will guide you through the ceremony planning process and offer my full support, ensuring that every aspect reflects your unique bond and the commitment you’re celebrating. Together, we can create a meaningful and memorable ceremony that’s true to who you are as a couple.

This can include:

  • Crafting personal vows
  • Incorporating symbolic rituals (e.g., handfasting, sand ceremonies)
  • Choosing poems, readings, or quotes that resonate with you
  • Selecting the perfect music to complement each stage of the ceremony

Please note that, under current legislation, ceremonies conducted by independent celebrants are not legally binding. To be legally married in England or Wales, you need to be married by a registrar, minister or other faith leader in front of two witnesses at a registered venue.
